The mission of the Institute is to prepare qualified professionals to work in the field of blindness through immersion training and university courses. The Institute also conducts and sponsors a variety of research projects to broaden the perspective in the blindness field. Louisiana Tech is committed to developing innovative programs for blindness professionals through the Institute on Blindness. Master's candidates are exposed to a variety of blind adults who live normal, productive lives. Through this exposure, students understand the opportunities and goals of blind Americans and receive an unparalleled experience before they enter the blindness field.
